ENGLISH
Tempe kemul is a dish originating from Wonosobo, Central Java, made from tempeh that is fried with a coating of wheat flour, cassava starch/flour, and rice flour, and usually includes chives as a complement. "Kemul" in Javanese means "blanket." This food is best enjoyed warm with fresh chili peppers on the side. In some regions, tempe kemul is known as tempe mendoan, but mendoan is generally cooked half-done, and tempe kemul has an addition of turmeric for yellow coloring. In Wonosobo, tempe kemul is widely sold by street vendors, such as those selling bakso or mi ongklok;[citation needed] but it is also sometimes sold separately. This food is very popular among the people of Wonosobo, including both foreign and domestic tourists
