SERUNYA MENDAKI

2. "Sakit tapi Mau Lagi"

Ada semacam stockholm syndrome di kalangan pendaki. Pas nanjak, bibir pecah-pecah dan napas mau putus, kita sering bersumpah: "Gak lagi-lagi deh naik gunung!" Tapi anehnya, begitu sampai rumah dan lihat foto puncak, langsung buka grup WhatsApp buat tanya, "Minggu depan ke mana lagi kita?"

3. Solidaritas Orang Asing

10 THINGS ONLY HIKERS UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE FUN OF MOUNTAIN CLIMBING

Mountain climbing is often seen by ordinary people as an "activity of looking for trouble" – tiring, dirty, and sometimes dangerous. But for those who have reached the summit, there's a feeling that is truly hard to put into ordinary human words. Here are 10 things only hikers understand about its "fun":

1. The Pleasure of the "World's Most Delicious" Instant Noodles

At home, instant noodles are emergency food. On the mountain, when the temperature is 10°C and the wind is strong, instant noodles cooked using a nesting (square pot) taste far more luxurious than a five-star steak. The smell of sulfur smoke and noodle seasoning is the best aromatherapy combination.

2. "Painful but Want More"

There's a sort of Stockholm syndrome among hikers. While climbing, with chapped lips and breath almost giving out, we often swear: "Never climbing a mountain again!" But strangely enough, once we get home and look at photos from the summit, we immediately open our WhatsApp group to ask, "Where are we going next weekend?"

3. Solidarity with Strangers

Only on the mountain can you pass someone you've never met before, then greet each other, share water, or encourage one another with "Just a little more to the summit!" (even though the summit is still 2 hours away). There's an instant sense of brotherhood that can't be found in malls or offices.

4. The "Coffee" Ritual in Front of the Tent

It's not about the caffeine – it's the moment of sitting in front of the tent while looking at a sea of clouds or the twinkling city lights in the distance. Silent and still, with only the hissing sound of a portable stove. That is the most honest form of meditation.

5. Body Odor Becomes "Normal"

On the mountain, not bathing for three days is an achievement, not a disgrace. We stop caring about appearance and focus more on the body's functions. There's an extraordinary sense of freedom when you don't need a mirror and still feel cool.

6. The Sensation of Walking in a "Land Above the Clouds"

It's hard to explain the feeling of seeing clouds below your feet instead of above your head. Watching the sunrise peek from behind clusters of white cotton gives you perspective – that our life problems down there are actually really small.

7. Sleeping on a Hard Surface but Feeling Deeply Rested

Sleeping on a thin mat, inside a cramped sleeping bag, with the sound of wind howling outside the tent. It sounds uncomfortable, but for hikers, it's the most quality sleep possible because the body is truly exhausted and the soul is completely calm.

8. Mountain Water That Tastes "Sweet"

After hours of climbing and running out of water supplies, finding a spring or drinking water directly from a bamboo spout feels like drinking water from heaven. Its coldness seeps to the bones and tastes far fresher than any bottled water.

9. The Miracle of Lost Signal

In the city, we panic if our phone dies or loses signal. On the mountain, the moment the signal bars turn to "No Service" is actually when we feel truly "free." No work emails, no social media drama – only you and nature.

10. The Feeling of "Winning" Against Yourself

The summit is a bonus, but the struggle to hold back your ego and not give up when your legs are shaking (tired and wobbly) is the real victory. When standing at the highest point, you don't feel like you've conquered the mountain – you feel like you've successfully conquered your own laziness and fear
